Mage to Order Officially Funded!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 12:27:18 PM

Thank You!

The campaign for Mage to Order has come to a close, having raised a total of $1734 to bring the project to life. We met 4 out of 5 stretch goals, including a new cover featuring the MOTE logo by Nerdette Designs, fillable PDF character sheets, and color printing and paper upgrades for the physical book!

We are incredibly grateful for everyone's support, and we're looking forward to showing you the finalized game in a couple months. Meanwhile, we thought we'd share our fulfillment timeline with you, so you know what to expect and when. We'll be taking the next couple of days to relax and recover, before jumping in with both feet next week.

Fulfillment Timeline

  • February - Refine text before sending the game to our editor.
  • March - Editorial process, including rewrites and revisions.
  • April - Art, layout and design.
  • May - Final revisions; send proof to printer. PDF and fillable character sheets released to backers. Begin work on Cut Him Out in Little Stars.
  • June - Print revisions. Send Cut Him Out in Little Stars to editor. Send survey to backers.
  • July - Cut Him Out in Little Stars revisions and layout. Begin shipping prep for print books; close backer surveys.
  • August - Print books shipped. Cut Him Out in Little Stars PDF released to backers.

Over the next few months, we'll continue updating with monthly notifications describing where we are in the production process. We don't expect many delays, but if anything alters our timeline, you'll hear about it immediately.

Other Great Games on Kickstarter

In the meantime, if you just can't get enough ZineQuest, here are a bunch of other fantastic games in need of support:

  • Make a Scene Larp Anthologies are two books of original larps written for Minnesota's live-action scenario festival, many of which can be adapted for online play.
  • Peculiar Children is a d8 roleplaying game about children with strange and unusual powers.
  • Wise Women is a game about a group of witches attempting to protect their village with herbal magic, while remaining safe from persecution.
  • Paranormal Inc. is a card-based RPG about struggling paranormal investigators.

Color Printing & Fillable PDF Character Sheets Unlocked + A Sneak Peek!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 17, 2021 at 01:42:17 AM

We've rocketed past $1400 and unlocked our second and third stretch goals; color printing for the Mage to Order zines and fillable PDF character sheets for all backers! Since then we've added two new stretch goals, a new custom-designed cover by Nerdette Designs and a PDF Thelema City Guide, filled with story hooks, NPCs and a city map.

With less than 48 hours left in the campaign, we love the enthusiasm everyone's been showing, so we thought we'd give you a little peek of what's coming. Here's a mockup of the (now in color!) Specialties page from the rulebook!

100 + Backers!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 14, 2021 at 01:58:53 PM

Today, we reached over 100 backers on Kickstarter! We're also just $69 from meeting our second stretch goal, which will allow us to print the zine in full color. Once we pass that mark, we'll also be super close to our third stretch goal, fillable PDF character sheets for all backers. We're working on a few more fun things if we pass that mark, including more art and an additional PDF packed full with adventure hooks, a city map, and sample NPCs.

Once again, we're extremely grateful for your support, and can't wait to introduce you to the world of Mage to Order!

First Stretch Goal Reached!
about 3 years ago – Tue, Feb 09, 2021 at 04:04:01 PM

We've reached our first stretch goal of $1000! This means all zines will be printed on 70# paper, with 100# matte lamination covers. These upgrades will not only add to the quality and texture of the zine, but will increase the sharpness and clarity of the print.

Our next stretch goal is $1300, which will allow us to print the entire zine in full color. We've also added a third stretch goal at $1400 to create fillable PDF character sheets for all backers.

Once again, we deeply appreciate your support and thank you for making this project a reality!

Mage to Order Funded!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 07, 2021 at 07:30:28 PM

Thank You!

Yesterday evening, we passed our target number of $800 and Mage to Order is fully funded! A sincere thank you to all our backers for helping to make this project a reality. Now that we have a moment to breathe, lets talk about stretch goals and what's going to happen next.

Stretch Goals

Our early stretch goals focus on upgrades to the print zine, including increasing the quality of the paper, adding a matte finish to the cover, and printing the game in full color.

$1000 - COVER & PAPER UPGRADES

If we meet this stretch goal, all zines will be printed on thicker, higher quality 70# natural paper as well as a 100# matte lamination cover with a satin finish.

$1300 - FULL COLOR

If we reach this stretch goal, the zine will be printed in full color, instead of black and white.

Stretch goals beyond this mark include adding more art, hiring additional help with layout and design, and creating fillable character sheets for PDF backers.

What's Next

Once the campaign ends, we'll send the game to our editor to refine and proofread, then move on to layout. Assuming we stay on schedule, the PDF of Mage to Order should be available to all backers in May, while print zines will be mailed to backers in August. Backers who chose the PDF adventure Cut Him Out in Little Stars should also receive their PDF this August.

In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing the world of Mage to Order with you!
